My name is Heather Dickens and I have created this blog for a course I am taking at UA, CS 391: Getting Started with WordPress. I am careful to blog things that are relevant and thoughtful, all the while learning the ends and outs of WordPress. I welcome and appreciate feedback and helpful comments to any of my posts.
I am a senior at The University of Alabama and will graduate May, 2016 with a BS in Commerce and Business Administration. With the exception of 22 transfer credits, I have completed my entire degree through Bama by Distance, UA’s distance learning program. I feel very fortunate to have been accepted into this program and currently have a 3.825 UA GPA.
Prior to my academic career at UA, I spent most of my years working in sales. However, in 2009 my husband took a job abroad and I left my career of 16 years to follow him to Germany. While living as an expat I found employment in inventory management and decided it was time to finally finish college. My husband suggested Bama by Distance and the rest is history. I was accepted to UA in 2013 and haven’t looked back.
We recently moved back to the states and currently reside in Athens, Georgia. Living in UGA’s hometown, I take a lot of ribbing during football season. Aside from traffic on game days, we love living in this community. Upon graduation I look forward to the many prospects this region offers and hope to, as the saying goes, bloom where I am planted.
We have two daughters that are still at home, and one grown son. My devastatingly handsome husband, Danny, affords me a stay-at-home student/ mommy position which I cherish deeply. I have two cats that I adore, Cupcake and Harry. I am definitely “the crazy cat lady.” Not only will I graduate in 2016, I will also turn 41.
